Account Deletion Policy

Awaiting legal review. This document is a draft and is not final. Remove this box once a qualified legal advisor has signed it off.
You can ask WattDrive to delete your account and personal data at any time, and we will act on it within 30 days. This policy explains how to ask, what we delete, and what the law requires us to keep. It works with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
1. How to request deletion
In the GoWattDrive app. Go to Profile, then Settings, then Delete Account, and confirm with the one-time password sent to your registered mobile number.
Without the app. Email info@wattdrive.in from your registered email, or call +91 87925 76655 from your registered mobile number, with the subject “Delete my account”. Include your registered mobile number and name.
Verification. We verify that the request comes from the account holder, usually by one-time password. We may ask for one more proof of identity if the request comes from an unregistered email or number. We will not ask for card numbers, passwords or PINs.
Acknowledgement. We acknowledge your request within 72 hours and tell you if anything blocks it, such as unpaid dues.
2. What we delete and what we keep
Once verified, we deactivate your account at once and erase or anonymise your personal data within 90 days. Some records must be kept by law, and we keep only those.
| Data | What happens | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Profile (name, email, mobile), saved vehicles, preferences | Deleted | No longer needed |
| Login credentials, RFID card links, app tokens | Deleted | No longer needed |
| Location history and vehicle-integration data | Deleted | No longer needed |
| Marketing and notification preferences | Deleted; your number or email is added to a suppression list so we do not contact you | Honour your opt-out |
| Charging sessions, invoices, payment and wallet records | Kept for 8 years, stripped of profile details where practicable | Tax, GST and accounting law |
| Support tickets | Kept for 3 years from closure, then deleted | Dispute handling |
| Fraud, misuse and security records | Kept as long as needed to prevent repeat abuse | Legitimate security use |
| Backups | Overwritten in the normal backup cycle, up to 90 days | Technical limits |
Retained data is used only for the stated reason, is access-restricted, and is deleted when the period ends. If a court, regulator or law enforcement requires us to preserve data, we will keep it for as long as they require.
Third parties. We instruct our processors, such as our CMS vendor and cloud hosts, to delete your data too. Your payment gateway and bank keep their own records under their own policies.
3. Before you delete
- Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your account, session history in the app, or saved settings. You can register again later as a new customer.
- Wallet balance. Use your balance before deleting. Any remaining balance is dealt with under the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- Dues. Unpaid charges, fees or disputes must be settled first. We may keep the data needed to collect or resolve them.
- Active sessions. End any running charging session before you request deletion.
- RFID cards and linked vehicles. They stop working as soon as your account is deactivated.
- Partial option. If you only want fewer messages, you can switch off marketing in the app, or ask us to remove your vehicle-integration data without deleting the account.
4. Confirmation and complaints
We confirm by email or SMS when deletion is complete and tell you which records we kept and for how long. If you are not satisfied, write to our Grievance Officer, Arunabh Mukherjee, at info@wattdrive.in. We acknowledge within 72 hours and aim to resolve within 30 days. If it is still unresolved, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
